| Podium Sweep for RC8 R |

(June 19-20, 2010) The HMC/KTM Team rolled into Alton, VA for the Southeast & Mid-Atlantic Championship Series at the Virginia International Raceway (VIR) 10th Annual Festival of Speed and took home an impressive 1st, 2nd and 3rd place result.
The liquid-cooled orange and black KTM 1190 RC8 R rolled off the race truck very quick. HMC/KTM rider Chris Fillmore has commented all season that the RC8 R makes plenty of power down low and handles exceptionally well and the VIR circuit allowed the HMC race bike to once again show its ability. In Expert SuperTwins Fillmore started on the second row and landed in 2nd place on the second lap and then subsequently moved into 1st place. Fillmore continued to cut fast times through the end of the race to put his KTM on the top step of the podium ahead of both Bob Michael and Joel Spalding who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively on their KTM RC8 R’s.
In the Expert Unlimited SuperSport race the chiseled F-117 stealth fighter–styled race bike started on the third row and stuffed it in the first turn and came out 5th. On the third lap Fillmore took 3rd and set sail for Nate Kern’s BMW. He stalked Kern and then took over 2nd position while clicking off the fastest lap time of the race. Time ran out as Fillmore closed in on Suzuki mounted and eventual race winner Scott Carpenter and Fillmore settled for 2nd.
The final race of the day found the team grid on the third row in the premier Expert Unlimited GP class. During each lap of the race the HMC/KTM mounted racer gained at least one position. With just two laps to go, Fillmore was in a solid 2nd position until an untimely red flag stopped the race and the officials moved the racer back one position to 3rd place.
Mitch Hansen, Team Owner of Team HMC/KTM, was happy with the results and stated, “At every race we understand the bike better and get faster as we improve the fuel delivery system, suspension and set up.”
Team HMC/KTM could not produce the results without KTM, KTM PowerParts, Akrapovic, Alpinestars, Millennium Technologies, Silkolene, Vortex, Michelin, DID, APTC Penske Racing Shocks, Traxxion Dynamics and Corsa Components. Chris Fillmore is supported by Shoei Helmets and Alpinestars suits.
